Welcome to Cross Wind Farm!

Building on a long family tradition of farming, buoyed by years of practical experience in the dairy industry (Kevin) and years of operations and marketing experience (Cindy), it was a natural choice to start their own family farm operation; a dairy goat farm just 15 minutes east of Peterborough, in Keene, Ontario. In 2006 the journey begain with a busy year of building and reconstruction of our 1800’s barn to accommodate bringing the girls home!! Finally the first does began to arrive in March of 2007 and they began shipping raw milk within the month. The rest is history!!

Cross Wind Farm is a growing operation in every sense. From the first day the girls (does) arrived, both Kevin and Cindy knew they wanted to someday create their own branded line of dairy goat products and goat meat right on their farm. With a vision to provide quality farm fresh milk, they branded the term “..taste the freshness...” which has become a well known phrase locally!!
Continually shipping raw milk from the farm through the Ontario Dairy Goat Co-operative (which they are still active members with) the process began...

A Brief History of our Operations
July 2008 – Goat meat line and goat soap was launched and introduced at the local Saturday Farmers Market, and quickly spread to restaurants and specialty boutiques
January 2010 – construction began to create an on-farm dairy processing plant
November 2010 – licensing received and production began! First to be introduced was the pasteurized whole milk in attractive fresh looking jugs.....then the homestead feta in not one but two flavours! Then then the line of chevre began, which seems to be continuously growing to consumer demands: to date 12 delectable flavours have been developed which are assured to please even the most discerning of customers.
September 2011 – the opening of their “over the top” country on-farm store, sporting approx 600 sq ft of their complete line of goat products and much more! Crosswind Farm supports local businesses by carrying other area farmer's products including custom gift baskets, gift wrapping, antiques, and much more- making it a great one stop shop!

To date the days are busy but busy is not stopping them! Everyone plays an integral part within the farm operation: Kevin has the satisfying job of ensuring animal health, safety, housing, and the daily milking of the does, Cindy provides the art of milk processing and cheese making, and Mackenzie enjoys all areas of the operation by helping out wherever and whenever necessary. They just recently added a fulltime person within the dairy as well! All the hard work seems to be paying off, as Cross Wind Farm received the Top Quality Milk Award for the Province of Ontario with Ontario Dairy Goat Cooperative in 2008, 2009 and 2010!!

What’s next???...
I'm told to keep an eye out for farm fresh goat “chevarti”....Cindy's creative twist to havarti. It might be just around the corner!!
